About the event

In this practical seminar, we will take an in-depth look at what legally constitutes child abduction in California, its types — domestic and international abduction — and how it differs from the temporary removal of a child by one parent.

We will discuss:

  • What counts as illegal retention or removal of a child

  • Which forms and documents are filed in court

  • What to do if a child ends up in another state or abroad

  • Where to seek help and support

Webinar Goal: to give participants a practical understanding of legal procedures related to child abduction, explain the steps to take in the first hours after a child goes missing, and how to protect yourself and your child under the law.

Speaker: Maria Gershenovich – Prosecutor, District Attorney’s Office of Santa Clara County, Head of the Child Abduction Division, Berkeley Law School graduate with over 10 years of professional experience. 🆓 Our educational events are free.
