In this workshop, we will take an in-depth look at child and spousal support in California, how these payments are determined, and how court decisions are made during the divorce process.
We will discuss:
Spousal Support
How the amount and duration of spousal support are determined in California
The key factors courts consider when making support decisions
The difference between temporary and long-term (permanent) spousal support
When modification or termination of support may be possible
Which court forms are required and how to file them (Request for Order FL-300, Income and Expense Declaration FL-150, Spousal or Partner Support Declaration Attachment FL-157)
Child Support
How child support amounts are calculated in California
What types of income are considered
How the California guideline formula works
When deviations from the standard calculation may apply
Which court forms are commonly required (Income and Expense Declaration FL-150, Child Support Information and Order Attachment FL-342, and related documents)
We will also explain how courts make decisions, outline the logic of the court process, and review the main forms used when formalizing agreements and obtaining court orders.
Workshop Goal: to provide participants with a clear, practical understanding of child and spousal support in California and to help them properly prepare and file court documents.
